'Broken but Beautiful' Vase
I made this piece at the same time as the ‘Choke Me’ Vase. I was going through a harder time and couldn’t get myself to make a piece without destroying or altering it in some way, out of frustration.
If you didn’t know, pottery holds a memory. If you make a wall too thin, break, or crack something in an earlier stage, but repair it; many times it still shows up later even after the piece is completed. This showcases where the piece has been and what it has been through. This is one of my favorite things about the art form.
I purposely ripped the middle out of this beautiful, strong vase, once she was completed, much like life can do to us. She is still strong, sturdy, and can hold water for any of your favorite flowers, and serves as a reminder that we are one in the same.
Standing at twelve and a half inches tall, this porcelain, wheel-thrown piece is perfect for adding height to any bouquet. She is six inches in width and weighs ten and a half pounds.
